Terereatukahia River

The Te Rereatukahia River flows from the Kaimai ranges out into the Tauranga Harbour just south of Katikati.  The health of the river is of significant importance to the local people who live in close proximity and rely on this resource for food, water and recreation.
A group of BOP Regional Council representatives spent this morning training a few of the young locals how to monitor their river water health which they hope to do on a regular basis.
One of the tests was for live bugs in the water.  The guys found a Dobsonfly - click on the link to find out what it's more commonly known as - Yikes!
